African startups invited for UN-focused female innovation challenge The Innovations to Empower Women and Girls Challenge was launched by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) and ITU (International Telecommunication Union). This challenge aims to scale up innovative solutions that can be used to reduce inequalities and empower women and girls.

UNFPA’s first ever Joint Innovation Challenge, Innovations to Empower Women and Girls ChallengeShe is open to new ideas that will support female empowerment, maternal and gender health, equality and reproductive rights. This challenge will support women-centered innovation, including those that offer affordable and sustainable access essential reproductive health commodities, information, and services. It will also focus on difficult-to-reach areas, humanitarian settings, and increase prevention and response to gender-based violence. Ten challenge winners will receive US$60,000 investment and a nine month contract. UNFPA and its partners will provide targeted mentorship, lectures and interactive workshops to assist them in scaling their ideas. All applications are welcome hereJusqu’au 15 April
