Animoca Brands Purchases French Game Developer Eden Games Blockchain gaming platform, Animoca Brands, has completed the acquisition of French game developer — Eden Games. This publisher is responsible for popular racing games, including Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed, F1® Mobile RacingThe franchises Gear. Test Drive. V-Rally.

The company will focus on building its REVV ecosystem, while also introducing more Blockchain-powered racing games.

Eden Games Acquisition

Animoca Brands has been on an acquisition spree with two deals in the last year. According to the latest announcement, the gaming and venture capital firm plans to utilize Eden Games’ expertise and capabilities to focus on enhancing its REVV Motorsport (REVV) ecosystem. It also plans to launch a new series of blockchain-based racing game. Yat Siu was co-founder and executive Chairman of Animoca Brands. “With its quarter of a century of expertise in building high-quality motorsport video games, Eden Games will enhance and accelerate the development of the REVV Motorsport ecosystem and add powerful value to the REVV community and the racing metaverse.” Eden Games was founded in 1998. It used to be known as Eden Studios. The company grew its racing expertise over the next two decades and explored other genres. Some of its most prominent partners include Bugatti and Porsche. The latest news comes a week after Engine Gaming and Media sold its 96% share in Eden Games, for an estimated $15.3million in cash consideration.

Animoca’s Expansion

This isn’t Animoca’s first acquisition. The company has been active in NFT and gaming. It announced in February that it had completed the acquisition of 100% Melbourne-based indie gaming developer Grease Monkey Games. This Hong Kong-based company also supports over 170 investments in NFT dedicated companies and decentralized project. To boost play-to-earn (p2e), the company announced a $30 million Guild Accelerator Program. As previously reported, the acceleration program would prioritise projects that can vouch for sustainability, boast a smaller physical footprint, and thereby focus more on energy-efficient Proof-of-Stake (PoS), protocol and side chains. Animoca was also part of a $10 million Series B funding round for Lava Labs, a London-based blockchain gaming startup. Crazy Defense Heroes and Crazy Kings are some of its original games.
