The funding round was led by SoftBank Group via its SB Opportunity Fund, with participation from Animoca Brands, Binance Labs, BITKRAFT Ventures, Griffin Gaming Partners, CoinFund, Hashed, Multicoin Capital, Shima Capital, Polygon Studios, ConsenSys Mesh and angel investors including Axie Infinity co-founder Jeff Zirlin, and Gabby Dizon, co-founder of Yield Guild Games. The company intends to use the funds to grow operations in Latin America and Southeast Asia. Community Gaming is led by Chris Gonsalves, the CEO. The platform offers an infrastructure for key industry players and a competition platform. The platform’s UX and blockchain payment technology equip players, organizers, and developers with all the tools necessary to host, organize, and play in esports tournaments. Community Gaming had reached 100,000 unique users on its platform by early 2022. The major platform update expected later this year will allow users to earn supplemental income on the blockchain through gamified ‘Quests’ within the Community Gaming system.
