Ictero Medical, Inc.The $6M Series A financing was raised by, a Houston-based medical device startup that develops a novel cryoablation treatment system for high-risk patients suffering from gallstone disease. MedTex Ventures, S3 Ventures & an undisclosed strategic investors led the round. This funding will be used for product development and initial clinical testing. Matthew Nojoomi is the CEO and co-founder of Ictero. He has created catheter-based technology to be used in interventional radiology to treat gallbladder problems. The technology makes use of existing interventions to deliver cryoablation therapy, which effectively defunctionalizes the gallbladder without requiring it to be removed. Ictero Medical, a Houston-based firm that develops medical devices, has recently launched a partnership with Biotex, Inc. to speed product development and clinical activities toward regulatory clearance. Ictero will benefit from the extensive engineering resources and manufacturing capabilities of Ictero, as well capital support from MedTex Ventures via its Biotex Medical Device Fond.
