Microsoft acquires Miburo cyber security company

Microsoft (NASDAQ : MSFT), has entered into an agreement to purchase Miburoa cyber threat analysis and research firm based in NYC that specializes in foreign information operations detection and response. The deal amount, as announced in a post on Microsoft’s website, was not disclosed. Microsoft plans to increase threat intelligence research into foreign cyber threats with the acquisition. Clint Watts will lead Miburo, which will be part of the Customer Security and Trust organisation. The new Miburo analysts will work closely with Microsoft Threat Intelligence Center’s Threat Context Analysis team, data scientist and other experts to increase Microsoft’s threat detection and analysis capabilities. They will also shed light on how foreign actors use information operations to accomplish their goals. Miburo has been a leader in the identification and classification of foreign information operations. The research teams have detected and attributed malign and extremist influence campaign across 16 languages.
